FFOD: Tuna Salad w/ Wheat Thins

OM NOM NOM! Finally some food in my system!
So as gross as the picture may look it's actually amazing! It's canned tuna (because I'm cheap) with Wheat Thins it's super yummy and I'm sure Areeba would love this because she has this thing for Wheat Thins. Weird but she buys herself a box of these things and eats it like she's drinking water!

Anyways today was a crazy long day! Jummah, cleaning, and a 2 & 1/2 hour MAS meeting... I really didn't have much time to eat some food.

Aight so if you're getting ready to go to school or work and you need to pack yourself some food here's something different to try:

Ingredients:
1 can of tuna
Wheat Thins
Shredded lettuce
3 oval pickles
1/4 of tomato
Chili powder
Black pepper
1/2 tblsp of mayo
1/2 tblsp mustard
(all the spices are to taste. And veggies diced.)

From there throw everything into a small tubber ware. And you're ready for a days worth of work!

Make it. Enjoy it. Love it. Email me about it. And eat it!

Yours truly,
The Finally Fed Hans

FFOD: Bean Tostada

I've been craving some major Mexican food this week so tonight we had some left over frijoles (beans) so I made me some bean tostadas. I've noticed most middle eastern people here aren't really a fan of beans which is weird to me because this is like a Mexican must!

But anyways if u wanna make this make yourself some pinto beans. Buy the corn tortilla tostada chip things (I'm not to familiar with the exact name, but shoot me an email and I'll give you an exact name and recipe for the bean we make :) ) then add diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, salsa, and cheese to the top of it. Then feast! OM NOM NOM! Delicious!
Warning this dish can be a little messy so have napkins next to you.

Love,
The Hungry Hans Solo :D

Shout outs!! :D

A special shout out to my favorite nonblood related but blood related to Areeba cousin, Rahma!

She emailed us saying she tried the fruit tart(les) and they came out good.

Yaaay! Thank you Rahma for letting us know how it came out.

Shoot us an email about anything food related, attach a picture too if you like. And we'll give you a shout out on our blog. :)

FFOD: Granola Bars

Today's FFOD is my absolute favorite granola bar which is Quaker Chewy Dipps Chocolate Chip Granola Bar (Ahh what a mouth full. Literally full as in word wise and food wise :p). Areeba of course first introduced me to this marvelous snack. It's a chocolate chip granola bar DIPPED in chocolate! It's heavenly.

Anyways today is one of my fuller days of classes and I don't like spending too much money on buying outside food for lunch, so I bring myself some small snacks. This is an amazing snack and it holds me over for 2-3 hours. I love it!

So here's a story! When we flew to a MAS conference in New Jersey, Areeba brought a whole box of these suckers for the trip and that's all we would eat from flight to flight or lecture to lecture when we were craving chocolate or just wanted to eat...it was awesome. That's when I truly fell in love with them.

Well that's that! You can find them in any local market (yes market! I don't know why I don't just say store) they aren't to hard to find. If you haven't tried them, go out an get them! Then email us about how you liked it or didn't or if you have any suggestions and we'll throw you a shout out!

Always,
On the Go Hana

Favorite Food of the Day: Soupita

So I've decided that I'm gonna start another segment because Areeba has 2 segments and well gosh darn it I want 2 as well! :p nah just playing. I'm making this other segment because I love food and usually everyday I eat something that is just soo yummy it's my favorite food of the day! Now this can be anything, like something I've made, something Areeba made, some dish at a restaurant, or just a simple snack.

So for today's "FFOD" (that's right it's pronounced food and stands for Favorite Food of the Day) is my childhood soup called Soupita (which is basically like alphabet soup or tomato soup except with a little more spice). This is one of those meals when you don't feel like cooking or making anything too big so you make this.
Let's get cooking good lookings! ;) hehe

Ingredients:
2 bags of alphabet noodle
2 cubes of chicken bullion
1 can of tomato sauce (notice it's one of the regular sized cans not the smaller ones sold)
3 tblsp of garlic powder
1 tblsp of cumin
Sprinkle of black pepper
2 tblsp of butter
7 cups of water
Lemon juice

Some of Areeba's loved cooking supplies:
Large pot
Wooden spoon
Can opener
A nice soup bowl
Spoon

Cooking steps!:
NĂºmero uno! (ermm number 1) put the butter into ur pot and let it melt. Once that has happened pour your 2 bags of alphabet noodles and let them brown for a little about 10 minutes.

Once it's browned dump the 7 cups of water, tomato sauce, chicken bullion, garlic powder, cumin, and finally black pepper.

(yes my motto about Mexican food is true in this case. "With Mexican food you only need one pot")

So let it boil so the noodles can cook. Then turn off the stove, cover your pot with a lid, and let it stand for another 10 minutes so that it thickens up.

Then serve, add lemon and ENJOY!

My favorite soup bowl with little smiley chili peppers :D

Kitchen Love!! : My Electric Tea Kettle of Awesomeness

So last week was a little rough for me...
In order to ease the stress levels, I went to Lollicup and coffe places for tea several times, and I ended my night with a nice, heartwarming cup of tea. It works wonders. Tea is one of my many loves, and whenever i see an interesting flavo at the store, itss bound to wind-up in my shopping cart.

Mostly I try to stick to Green Tea..becasue its good for preventing diabetes, burning fat, lowering stress levels...and more.READ UP ON IT!!
Its magical. FYI...orange or jasmine green teas....BEST COMBO EVER.

My current tea collection:

It changes a lot...but there are three that will always be there
1)Lipton Green Tea with Oraange,Jasmine and Passionfruit...
2)Jasmine Green Tea
3)Good Earth Super Green Tea with Orange and Matcha.

Ok so in order to bring the magic out of the tea bag...I have this wonderful kitchen appliance...
THE ELECTRIC TEA KETTLE.
Its a beautiful thing.

Along with the fact that Its red and matches my kitchen aid mixer...which ill be ranting about later...
Its always there for me along with whatever tea im in the mood for. It works fast and doesnt emit harmful rays like a microwave.
Seriously...a lovely cup of warm or iced tea in two minutes.
I LOVE IT.
If you don't have one....
get one.
Now.
Its a great investment for your health and well-being.

Then email me and tell me about your favorite tea...ill give it a shot and talk about it in my next post! =)

yayyyyyyyyyyy!!!!

Also...if anyone knows of a book that talks about the different health benefits of teas. TELL ME.
I've been searching for one...and I would absolutely love it if Davis offered a class on the health benefits of teas in their food sciences or nutrition departments. I'd take it multiple times when I transfe iA.

TEA, TEA, TEA, TEA, TEA, TEA.

Love,
Areeba

"LET"S EAT HEALTHY PEOPLE!" - Pasta, Pesto Perfectionnn

Sooooo my parents were out of town today. I was excited....
BECAUSE I COULD HAVE THE KITCHEN TO MYSELF.
I decided to cook up a little something for lunch.
Lately I've been addicted to Pesto. Its just absolutely magical. Delicious and pretty healthy.
I haven't gotten around to making it from scratch..but here's a simple quick way to get that pesto perfection.

INGREDIENTS:
Pasta- preferably whole grain
Your favorite veggies- I chose mushrooms and red bell peppers.
Chicken breast!- shrimp works too.
Pesto sauce mix...you can find it in the grocery store next to the taco/fajita spices.
Salt
Pepper
Water
Garlic/Ginger paste: or a tablespoon on each finely chopped.
Good Olive Oil
Lemon or lime

UTENSILS/SUPPLIES
Whisk
Wooden Spoon for cooking
Knife
Kitchen Shears (those scissors you use for meat)
Two Cutting Boards
Pot
Skillet

OK..Here's what you do:
1) Chop/Slice the veggies as you would like on one of your cutting boards.
2) Cut the chicken breast ( About 1-1 1/2 lbs) into slices/cubes on the other cutting board using the shears.

3) Boil water in a pot. Add a little salt and about a pound and a half of pasta.Drain Pasta once cooked.
4) Heat Olive oil in a medium skillet.
5) Add the garlic/ginger to the oil. Let it heat in the pan until you can smell the aroma! mmm!
6) Add the chicken and allow to cook. Add salt and pepper to taste to the chicken.
7) Once the chicken is cooked through, add the vegetables to the pan.
8) As the veggies are cooking, Use the pesto sauce mix, water, and olive oil to create the sauce. Follow the directions and measurements on the package.

9) Once the sauce has cooked and the veggies and chicken are cooked through, add them to the pot woth the pesto sauce and toss to coat.
10) Add the pasta to the vegiie/sauce/chicken mixture and mix well

Serve yourself a bowl of pasta, Make a lovely glass of iced tea. Sit with a friend and Enjoyy!!! =D

Something Different...

Alright so we haven't had a post for a while now. We were doing good too! but creating videos every week is kinda hard. Especially when I'm the one stuck editing them and I am definitely a perfectionist so it takes me a good 2 hours! :O And we are also both in college now which makes doing this blog a little more difficult because we are partying it up! haha just kidding! ;)

So here's whats gonna happen... Every month we will have 1 video Insha'Allah BUT Areeba and I will have segments of our own and anything we make on our own that is new to us we will post pictures, a blurb, and the recipe we used to make that dish. Sounding good huh?

Our segments are going to be unique to each of us...
My segment is called.... "Improving Dinner" where I talk about how to make a full out meal when you don't have to many groceries. This is how I make my usual dinners at home ;)
Areebas segment is called..... well I dont know what its called. haha "My Favorite Kitchen Tool/Appliance/utensils". She didn't exactly tell me but you'll know it once you see it because Areeba will blab on and on about what she loves about her kitchen. :P

Now that that's done with be expecting more post! YAAAY!
