My Asian Adventure with Alia

So...Hana and I sorta slowed down on the blogging due to the horror that is school...
and then hans flew off to Texas for break.
I don't want to be too slow on the posts though, so I'm going to share the food adventure I had today with a good friend of mine. ( Hana wasnt there....so these pictures are crappy. Also i took them with my ipod).

I had an Asian adventure with my friend Alia!!!
We don't get to see each other too often and we're sushi enthusiasts...so when we get the chance

WE GO OUT FOR SUSHI!!!
Today we went to a sushi restaurant we had heard about called "Akebono". Its In Sacramento on Freeport Blvd. The reviews were great so we were really looking forward to it!

After I drove us there and it we made it to the restaurant alive...

I just went for the sushi rolls, so I ordered the "Awesome Roll" and the "Lemon Blossom Roll". The lemon blossom one had thin slices of lemon on top that gave it a really refreshing taste to it...cant remember what was inside it..lobster salad i think. The second one was really good as well with shrimp tempura, samon, and topped with deep fried onions

Alia was excited to try their authentic ramen noodles...you know the noodles all the instant ramen noodle soups are modeled after. This one had lots of veggies, chicken, shrimp, and ramen noodles in a soy based broth. These ramen soups come with three different types of broth, soy based, salt based, and pork based....the soy one in this was really goood!

Everything was delicioussss!!!! Each serving was relatively big, so Alia and I shared everything we ordered. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmm!!
Pricewise, the noodles were decently priced, but you can find sushi rolls that taste just as good for a better pice. (Try Arigatos)
Yumminess: 10!
Prices:5
Happiness: 8

After lunch, we went to a japanese market and looked at all the interesteing food they had there...
Some highlights:

Chopsticks!

GREEN TEA: There was a HUGE variety..and it was pretty expensive...

More TEA

Those awesome Japanese sodas! When you open the bottle a marble falls into it from the cap and causes the soda to bubble up!! Entertainment with your drink. :)

DESSERT :)

Its always fun to explore food from different cultures becasue seeing all the different items can give you ideas of diffeent foods to try and cook. At the Japanese market, we found some really interesting foods that i never imagined existed. I even asked the woman behind us in line about some of the things she was buying. Intriguing food. Unique vegetables, noodles, snacks, and pastries that i never would have come across if it weren't for this trip with Alia. :)

So go hang out with your friends and visit different restaurants, grocery stores and markets!!
Food always teaches about different cultures and brings people together. <3

Teavana!

So...I was having a sort of blah morning. Wasn't in the mood to do much...and my family was headed to the mall. I decided to tag along, hoping that shopping with Rimsha and Hana would put me in a better mood.
At the mall, after fooling around with Hana at the Build a Bear store...we came across my FAVORITE store in the mall...Teavana. We were really lucky today, becasue the manager of the store was working at the desk. She knew SO much about tea. She asked us what kind of tea we wanted and after glancing at the beautiful massive wall of tea choices, she decided to help us out.

She explained the difference between Chinese and Japanese green tea and listed differences in flavor and health benefits. I was so impressed and interested in learning about the different kinds of tea, I asked her where she learned about it and she showed me a couple books!

She helped us pick our tea. We went with Japanese green tea blended with a Citrus Lavender Sage herbal tea. It was MAGICAL...and to top it off, she sweetened it with natural beet extract. It didn't change the flavor, or decrease the health benefit of the tea. Even Hana, who generally dumps loads of sugar into her tea, was happy with the sweetness from the extract. We walked out of the store happy like a kid walking out a candy store with all the candy he could eat.

It was deliciouss!!! We highly reccommend you check out this store and sample the teas they have there. They also have lots of cool tea sets and free samples of iced and warm teas. If you really like the flavo you tried, you can buy the tea to take home and drink!
WE DEMAND YOU TO GO THERE.

FFOD: Potato Bowl

When it comes to food I love everything to be in one bowl or plate (but I prefer bowls, it holds more food). Anyways to the point, on my lazy days I watch countless hours of TV and came across a KFC commercial about their famous potato bacon bowl.

I really don't like KFC but this just looked really good! So I took it upon myself to make it. I didn't take a picture of the food I made because it looked really unappealing, but here's a recipe I kind of just put together.

Ingredients: (2 serving)
  • 2 potatoes cut into cubes
  • teaspoon of salt
  • pepper
  • cup of water
  • milk
  • tablespoon of butter
  • McCormicks brown gravy packet
  • corn
  • cooked chicken breast
Directions:
  1. Boil cubed potatoes with teaspoon of salt till they are soft.
  2. Mash the potatoes! (because duh that's what we are making)
  3. Then add milk to your desired textures. (thick or thin mashed potatoes)
  4. Add tablespoon of butter, pepper, corn, and your already cooked chicken breast.
  5. Add everything into a bowl pour your made gravy over it and enjoy!
Yup and that's that! Super easy dinner and super yummy!
Shoot us an email with comments or requests. :)
